Jay Oen Posted 11 January , 2005 Share Posted 11 January , 2005 Anthony, Thank you very much for taking the time to do that for me, espically since I posted the CWGC listing that had his name spelled wrong!! Looks like you figured that out . It's interesting that CWGC has it wrong and SDGW has it right. I wonder if it was a typo? I'll be anxious to see what his grave marker says, as another pal has offered to get me a photo! Thanks again Anthony, JAY

Aaron Nelson Posted 12 January , 2005 Share Posted 12 January , 2005 Hi Anthony Got a quick question re your kind offer, is it possible on the CD to look up how many casualties occurred in a particular unit. Im wanting to know how many men were killed in the 330th Brigade RFA? Is that possible ???? If not no worries, just asking! Thanks Aaron.

makkem Posted 12 January , 2005 Share Posted 12 January , 2005 Sapper Peter Lane, RE Thanks Doug, (and Anthony for the original offer), Not sure whether this is now the right forum, and I apologise for silly questions, but: > Am I right in assuming he volunteered? (in service prior to 1916) > If so, why would he enlist in London? I imagined he'd never been there before in his life (speculation on my part . . . .) > What is the difference between 'died of wounds' and 'killed in action'? Regards Peter Lane BTW: "Bordon Close" is for sure the "enlister's" (right term?) interpretation of Bowden Close when spoken by a 'mackem' or 'pit-yacker', and Crook is the nearest town ( . . . remember their amateur football team?)
