RFC in Ireland 1919

Dear all,

I have been trying without much success so far to get a definitive interpretation of my grandfathers service record and some photographs. I am hoping that the Ireland forum may be able to help.

My grandfather served with 22 Squadron RFC in France, Belgium and Germany but then looks to have been transferred to Ireland in 1919 when 22 squadron was wound down. I have a photograph of him with other NCO's which is marked with a photographers shop logo near Curragh. From other research I know that there were a series of RFC training depots in the area 19, 22, 23, 24, 25 and the Irish Flying Instructors School.

Can anyone help in interpreting the text at the top of the attached service record - the 3-7-19 line (out of chronological order)? It looks like Dep Stn (i.e Depot Station) but I may be misreading.

Also are there any histories of the RFC in Ireland or the Depot Stations, it looks to be a bit of a neglected topic?

Any help from the Ireland experts much appreciated.

Cheers

K

There is a list of RAF stations in Ireland on this thread

You may find that the "Air" sub forum here can help you more.
