Royal Field Artillery "C" Bty. 91st Bde. 1 july 1916

hi all

currently researching Corporal R Bickley Royal Field Artillery "C" Bty. 91st Bde.

died 1st july 1916

buried at Vlamertinghe Miltary Cemetery

was wondering if anyone had any info on where the c battery was positioned and are there any

entries in war diaries etc. of the action he was involved in that day.

Hi Vic,

Can't help with diaries I'm afraid, but suffice to say 91st Bde RFA was part of 20th (Light) Division. At this time the brigade would still have been in the Ypres Salient (also suggested by your chap's place of burial - Vlamertinghe being to the West of Ypres). Certainly from the 2nd to 13th June 1916 the 20th Division was involved in the Battle of Mount Sorrel. The next 'big' action for the division would have been at Delville Wood down on the Somme later in July.
