Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone can help with this rather odd question! I am trying to put together biographies of all the officers of the 6th Cameron Highlanders, and while the list in the Regimental History gives details of service, it does not give the christian names of the officers, only initials. I have tried looking for MICs and have got the right details for most, but thought I would put out the list of the remaining men to see if anyone knew their names.

Here goes...

2nd Lieutenant P S Fraser (wounded at Buzancy, 1918)

2nd Lieutenant J M Macintosh (wounded at Loos, 1915)

2nd Lieutenant A K Tod

2nd Lieutenant R Simpson (wounded at Martinpuich, 1916)

Lieutenant W T McKie (wounded at Arras, 1917)

Lieutenant K M MacLeod (wounded at Martinpuich, 1916)

CWGC gives the three dead as:

John McCallum KIA 15.9.1916

Robert Kenneth Drummond KIA 24.7.1918

John Hislop KIA 31.7.1917

Sotonmate

......and the one who died of wounds Lt Alastair Milligan is shown on SDGW as 5 Cameron H attached to 1/7 A&SH when died on 30.4.1917. Is that your man ?

Thanks Sotonmate

The A Milligan I have was captured at Arras on 28 March 1918 and was reported to have died of wounds while in captivity, so the 1917 chap is not my man.

Thanks very much for this though

Patrick,

By 'Regimental History' do you mean 'Historical Records of the Cameron Highlanders' although all the eight (?) volumes are unlikely to be at hand in Istanbul. However, I have never looked at these for biographies of WW1 officers. Is the London Gazette of any help for commissions and promototions. Often, full names are given but I suppose you would just have to trawl through (I have just tried finding a QOCH example and been singularly unsuccessful).

All details from Vol 7 of the Historical Records of the Cameron Highlander. It is apretty complete record, so i suspect that e&oe those whose names I haven't found may not be Camerons. Possibly RAMC, maybe Chaplains or just plain interlopers. There are other details of the individuals included in the records

Good luck

Thats fantastic!! Thanks very much. I had taken copies of some sections of the Historical Records of the Cameron Highlanders relating to the 6th Camerons but in my haste must have overlooked the biographies section in Vol.7. Thanks very much for the info. Next time I am back in Scotland I will visit the National Library and check for more details.

All the best

Patrick

Hello

You ask about 2nd Lt. T.P.Phillips

He was my father, Terence Patrick

I would very much like to know anything relevant to him that you have discovered in your researches as , like others, he never spoke of his war experiences (apart fro difficulties with spats!)
