jimmyjames Posted 14 July , 2004 Share Posted 14 July , 2004 Elizabeth Hannah Jane Roberts was a member of the WRAF and died of pnuemonia on 28th October 1918, aged 22. She is buried in a CWGC plot in Cheltenham Borough Cemetery. She was attached to the 9th School of Aeronautics (although this may well have been the 8th School). I would be grateful for any information on the school and on what were Elizabeth's probable duties within the school. Very many thanks Jimmy
Dolphin Posted 15 July , 2004 Share Posted 15 July , 2004 Jimmy 22635 E H J Roberts was at No 9 School (Observers) of Aeronautics at Cheltenham. I don't know her specific duties, but there were four trade categories for members of the Womens' Royal Air Force. Category 'A': Clerk, Shorthand Writer, Typist. Category 'B': Cleaner, Cook, Waitress, Laundress, Domestic Worker. Category 'C': Chauffeuse, Photographer, Fitter, Tinsmith, Metal Worker, Rigger, Wireless Mechanic, Wireless Operator, Carpenter, Painter. Category 'D': General Duties, including: Storekeeper, Tailoress, Shoemaker, Sailmaker, Motor-Cyclist. I hope this helps. Gareth
