Howarth1918 Posted 21 August , 2011 Share Posted 21 August , 2011 Hi, Can anyone help me identify a 1914-15 Star with correct impressed naming to O.N. 7233 F. Lenson. Stoker. No indication of Royal Navy or RCN so not sure of what it is. Any help really appreciated.

melliget Posted 22 August , 2011 Share Posted 22 August , 2011 Craig. He was in the Royal Australian Navy. Here's his service record: http://recordsearch....e.asp?B=5234310 Click on the Enlarge option at the top of the NAA page to make things a little clearer. - Frank Lenson, born in Kootamundra, NSW, 2 Jan 1893. - joined RAN 14 Oct 1912. - involved in operations in German New Guinea at the start of the war (on HMAS Melbourne). - most of his service was on HMAS Melbourne. - died in 1961. regards, Martin

melliget Posted 22 August , 2011 Share Posted 22 August , 2011 You're welcome, Craig. My grandfather also served on HMAS Melbourne at the same time but, being an Officer's Steward, would probably not have come into contact with stokers much. Coincidentally, he joined the RAN on the same date as Frank Lenson, 14 Oct 1912. I wonder if that date is significant. Martin
Howarth1918 Posted 9 September , 2011 Author Share Posted 9 September , 2011 Hi Martin, there must be some significance it can't just be a coincidence. Thanks again, Craig...
