Hello

Do you have any idea where in Swinton your man lived? There are some burnt records for a Depledge from swinton but you would need more info to work out if it is you man. If you let me have your mums name parents names, grandparents etc. I will see what I can do for you.

Rich

Send me a personal message with the info if you don't want it to be made public.

Hello again

The records I have found seem to be for the Fred Depledge 172060 York and Lancaster Regiment. It list his next of kin as his sister who is Sarah Platts. Does this name help?

CWGC give 17206 as the son of Richard and Annie. 1901 census shows Annie as a widow; sister Sarah.

1901 census gives a possibility for 1684 as born 1893 son of George and Lily with siblings (Norah, Mary and James). 2 family trees for this chap on Ancestry but neither give death details. The following gives a dob and family link :

These 2 were touched on briefly on a previous thread

this Frederick Depledge appears to be on the Swinton War Memorial according to the following website :

http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=126676

along with 17206 Fred Depledge
