Prior to a short-notice visit to PRO Kew, I am trying to see if any records for Fred W. Purdy's WWI battalion/s exist, for which I currently have no details.

From a (scorched) enrolment paper, I can see that he enroled with KOYLI on the 27th September 1916 in Pontefract (No.39924), there is also a medal card with additional numbers for 'R.E' (341936) and Northumberland Fusliers (267733)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Dave.

From a quick look I can see Depot KOYLI then 2/4th Northumberland Fusiliers possibly also 2/6th NF then he transfers to RE in Nov 1917 from 2/4th NF

Many thanks - is there a brief history online where I could get an indication of the locations ? (I understand that he may have been in France for a while).

I have recently re-checked the Ancestry records, and there are now 20+ pages.

Also, the front page - the enrolment paper - seems clearer now (perhaps Ancestry have been updating their WWI military records ?).

Dave.
