Grovetown Posted 8 July , 2004 Share Posted 8 July , 2004 I have a large piece of framed fabric purportedly from a Fokker DVII. There is an old label which says: 'German 2641. Fokker DVII side fuselage lozenge camouflage and late style Balkan cross. Year 1918'. (Elsewhere it also says 'Donated by P. Fairchilds 18-6-1927. Reframed 1-1-1957'. My instinctive reaction was that 'German 2641' was a long form of the 'G Numbers' ascribed to downed enemy aircraft by British intelligence. However, 10 seconds in Franks et al's The Jasta Pilots disabused me of that. While not all numbers are recorded, it doesn't fit either in the early 3-digit numbers or the later Brigade style ones. Could it still be a G Number? My next thought was that it could be the aircraft werke or serial ie: Fokker DVII 2641/18. But sites with DVII serials I've googled don't offer anything close. I also wonder if P. Fairchilds was the victor? Any thoughts (even if to recommend a book that might help)?
Grovetown Posted 13 July , 2004 Author Share Posted 13 July , 2004 Dear Dan-San Herewith as discussed. The 'scale' is marked at 10cm intervals, with 5cms in-between. Best wishes,
