august g blume Posted 8 July , 2004 Share Posted 8 July , 2004 i am interested in learning details about a royal flying corps mission to russia during 1917. it was led by Colonel James Valentine and was to train russian airmen on British aircraft that came with the mission. would like to learn the full names and ranks of all pilots and observers, possible victory claims and losses, as well as awards (British or Russian) the airmen may have received. thank you. august blume
MikeW Posted 9 July , 2004 Share Posted 9 July , 2004 August, Cross & Cockade International ran a shortish article on Major Valentine a few years ago, it certainly has some details of the mission which as you say was intended to train Russian airmen. If you look on their web site you will find an index which will tell you which issue of the journal you need. Let me know if you can't find it.
