My Great-Grandfather survived the Titanic then joined the Red Cross as a cook and later as an ambulance driver. However he originally went to France as a cook in the Florence Fiennes hospital in Dunkirk. This lady was awarded an OBE in 1918 presumably for her war effort and is the grandmother of Ranulph Fiennes, explorer. So I find it surprising that I can find no information about this hospital other than it was in Malo-les-Bains. I understand from my reading that it was probably a small private affair before an army provision was set -up. I am hoping to take my young teenager to France in the autumn and would love to have some more info about this hospital. Can anyone help or perhaps point me in the right direction?
