I have done a recheck and it states "sweeping mines Makri Harbour" ADM 172/022

Other ships present  "Colne,Wear, Monitor M33

I  believe ships log books are on Naval-History.net.

. Sweeping mines etc in Malta harbour. Aug 1916

This is a misreading of the name in written in ADM 171/172. RIBBLE and COLNE were not at Malta in August 1916, Rather both ships were involved in sweeping operations in the Makri Gulf (Turkish Gulf of Fethiye - SW Turkey, NE of Rhodes.)

Hi, I know this is an old topic but have just come across it. The PO Nash is my wife's granddad, she never met him but her dad ans uncle are the spitting image. We came across the medal and certificate in her dads loft when he died, this was the first we knew of it. Wife's brother claimed them both and he has since past away and his family are claiming they no nothing about the medal.

I meant to add that we have PO Nash's sea chest
