I was recently given on temporary loan a set of 4 postcards showing different views taken in the Forest of Compienge. I wanted to share them with forum members before I returned them. A then and now comparision would be interesting for anyone interested.

The monuments shown in the the last two photos were later crated up and taken away to Germany in WW2, to be returned to the clearing later. Here's an article which has some photos of some of the monuments as they are today. Just scroll down for the photos. The site doesn't seem to have changed much at all, though it was virtually destroyed, on Hitler's orders, in 1940.
