AndrewFrench Posted 29 April , 2017 Share Posted 29 April , 2017 Hi Robert I am in the process of analysing the medical records of 2nd Lieut ETT Drake who suffered a nervous breakdown while serving in Egypt. Neurasthenia seems to have been coupled with dysentery. He seemingly broke down under very hard work combined with the death of his brother and several close friends. He was evaculated to the UK and it took a year before he was fit enough to be transferred to the 21st Lancers special reserve. I can provide further details if required (about a dozen medical boards) Regards Andrew
Guest Posted 29 August , 2017 Share Posted 29 August , 2017 (edited) I was looking at my husband's grandfather's war records from World War One, and thought you might be interested to know that it states "Discharged no longer physically fit for war service on account of illness contracted on A.S. Neurasthenia. So there we go. He was in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade. Edited 29 August , 2017 by Guest
