A Google shows it was a Home Service unit of the RAMC.

wulsten,

335 FA was definitely at Herne Bay in August 1917, as I came across the Pension record of a man transferred to it. (Arthur Richard Cripps, Pte 103800 RAMC)

My maternal granddfather is the Arthur Richard Cripps that Phil refers to. (His photo and service details are at http://www.ramc-ww1....rofile_id=11269) . When he enlisted in November 1915 he was posted to the Royal Victoria Hospital at Netley in Southampton. On the 18th August 1917 he was transferred to No 335 Field Ambulance at BLACKPOOL (as stated on his service record) not Herne Bay. So the question is, was the 335 FA based in Blackpool at the beginning of August and then transferred to Herne Bay sometime after the 18th August?

And Phil, you mention a Pension record for my grandfather; what is this exactly?

Regards

Paul JJ
