Guest Philipkemp Posted 17 March , 2003 Share Posted 17 March , 2003 When captured in 1917 my father's regiment was given by the Red Cross as "25th M.G.C." In the list of Companies published on this site, there is no 25th Company shown; has antone any reason why this is so? Philip Kemp.
Paul Reed Posted 17 March , 2003 Share Posted 17 March , 2003 "25th MGC" in 1917 would have been 25th Company Machine Gun Corps, part of 25th Brigade, 8th Division. You should find details of the 8th Division on Chris' site; you'll also find it on my own site at: http://battlefields1418.50megs.com/regular...#8th%20Division
Staffsyeoman Posted 18 March , 2003 Share Posted 18 March , 2003 Formed 19 Jan 16. Paul's ID is correct (25 Bde, 8 Div). Served entirely in F&F; absorbed into 8 Bn MGC on 1 Mar 18. Company sign was the Corps device (cap badge) in scarlet on a yellow background.
