delta Posted 9 July , 2004 Share Posted 9 July , 2004 Mk I tanks were converted for use as "supply" tanks as early as 1917 and were used in this role at Cambrai. Good news - I have a copy of a picture of factory fresh supply tank at Licoln Bad news - I have tried to put it onto the site but the picture seems too large to be accepted; any suggestions as to how I can scale it down
Robert Dunlop Posted 19 July , 2004 Share Posted 19 July , 2004 Here are some pics of the 'Funny' tanks with their ramps for scaling the seawall at Middelkerke in Belgium. These photos were taken in northern France at the training area. A full-scale replica of the sea wall was built using the specifications from the original engineer. He had left Belgium and the British tracked him down in France. Robert
Robert Dunlop Posted 19 July , 2004 Share Posted 19 July , 2004 And with the ramp going into place. You can make out the wooden slats that were put on the tracks to give the tanks more stability and traction on the beach. Robert
