Can someone please tell me where the above were between the following dates

18/8/1915 to 18/10/1916

This information is hand written on a photograph of an Officer [Major I think] and 6 men.

The 1/1st, 1/2nd and 1/3rd Scottish Horse made up the Scottish Horse Brigade which embarked on the Transylvania on 17th August 1915 bound for Gallipoli [details from Westlake's 'British Regiments at Gallipoli'] They left Gallipoli on the night of 19/20th December 1915, moving to Egypt a little later

The Long, Long Trail's page on the Scottish Horse can be seen here http://www.1914-1918.net/scottishhorse.htm and suggests that October 1916 is significant, being when they "became 13th (Scottish Horse Yeomanry) Battalion of the Royal Highlanders (Black Watch)"

Good luck

Thanks Michael.

I had looked thru 1914-1918 but missed "Service same as 1/1st." Will take more time in future.

A friend has this photograph, her father in law is one of the soldiers in it. He survived the war and finished as Sgt. "D" Coy, 13th (SH) Black Watch
