Today 90 years ago , my Grandfather (Sergeant 19th Hussars) was with elements of his regiment on the Thames "swimming the horses". Obviously an element of R&R here since it allowed them to escape from Hounslow barracks but , the main activity practiced was getting the horses across rivers - which they did with sort of continuous travelling rope system .

The Belgrade newspaper "Politika" complains that within a half-hour of the reports that the assinsins had been arrested "the Jewish-Austrian press were flooding the world with their reports of bombs and money from Serbia." - Seems they were right, too.
