I'm standing beside a 10' wooden cross, facing towards the steps of a large memorial. What is directly behind me?

I am standing beside the grave of a former member of the Robin Hood Bn, Sherwood Foresters, who went on to win the VC. I am surrounded by Germans. Where am I?

Are you in the German Cemetery at Annouellin, and the grave is that of Capt. Albert Ball VC?

Spot on, Tom. Your turn now.

Thanks, Mick.

1 - there's quite a lot of smashed-up reinforced concrete around here.

2 - I can see a memorial with a royal name on it.

3 - A few moments ago, something brought the name 'Olliff' to mind.

David and Patje, sorry to have kept you waiting for a reply. I've been out since 11.00 and only just got back home.

You're both wrong, but Patje is closer (geographically). The Buttes Cemetery is 7 km (4 miles) from the place I have in mind. The Loos Memorial is 47km (29 miles) away.
