Beselare Posted 3 March , 2011 Share Posted 3 March , 2011 I have only just read about the brave actions of 18-year-old Emilienne Moreau at Loos in September 1915, when she killed five Germans with a British revolver as they tried to break into her house to kill the wounded she was tending. She was later decorated with the French Military Cross and the British Military Medal. Has anyone ever researched where her house was in Loos, and is it still standing? I would very much like to pay a visit there if there is any trace. Bob Findley Beselare Belgium
Admin Michelle Young Posted 3 March , 2011 Admin Share Posted 3 March , 2011 Bob There is a Rue Emilliene Moreau in Loos, presumably around the site where she lived. Gilles might be able to shed more light. Michelle
Beselare Posted 4 March , 2011 Author Share Posted 4 March , 2011 Thanks Michelle. I am not familiar with 'Gilles' - is he/she a forum member or is it a site I should visit? Bob
Sue Light Posted 5 March , 2011 Share Posted 5 March , 2011 Contact the museum at Loos: Loos Museum And the number of Germans seems to increase with the telling, but it was 'only' two, rather than five! Sue
