My grandfather was sent back to England after being mustard gassed at Bullecourt in September 1918. I believe he was sent to a hospital at Halifax, where he spent about seven weeks recovering. Does anyone know which hospital this would have been ?. Any help much appreciated.

There were VAD Hospitals at Priestly Green and Spring Hall.

There were a number of hospitals in Halifax:

Halifax War Hospital - 700 beds in the Poor Law Infirmary

Halifax Military Hospital - 20 beds, and I assume it was a local military hospital pre-war

100 beds set aside for military use in Halifax General Infirmary

Spring Hall Auxiliary Hospital - 142 beds

Glenwood Auxiliary Hospital, Southowram - 7 beds
