Prisoner of War- probably captured 27.8. 1914 at Etreux during the Rearguard action in which the 2nd Bn, Royal Munster Fusiliers were overwhelmed, after a long reistance, by nine German battalions Honours and Awards. India General Service Medal clasp North West Frontier 1908 (7478 Pte, 1st R.Muns.Fus) 1914 Star roll A/7 p79; clasp to 1914 Star issued 12.7.1920. (Pte R.Mun Fus) British War Medal and Victory Medal roll A/103 B7 p1256. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Army Order 21 May 1925.(Pte, Welch R.)
