A visit there is worth at least one day of your life (you get a tram out from Brussels into the suburbs). The park setting is great for a family to disappear into. I found the museum to be defensive in its modern interpretations of Belgian colonial history, but it is not as bad as the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum was when I visited it in Bristol. (I thought to myself: "If we were so bad in our colonial dealings, then why didn't all our former colonies including the USA reject using our language and instead use one of their own?"
