Matthew King Posted 18 January , 2011 Share Posted 18 January , 2011 Hello everyone A friend of mine collects old photos and recently brought one of a group of soldiers that we assume was taken around WW1 era and in the Middle East. I was wondering if anyone could help identify the regiment that the soldiers would have belonged to. The picture can be found on his flicker site at On the reverse of the photo is says "This is a photo taken...... our guard-room..... wire round it to keep the flies and mosquitoes out that is me standing up on sentry with the rifle in my hand, but he missed my head when he took it" Thanks for any help Matt
centurion Posted 18 January , 2011 Share Posted 18 January , 2011 Is the sentry wearing Slade Wallace equipment? Which might suggest earlier than WW1 and possibly India.
Andrew Upton Posted 18 January , 2011 Share Posted 18 January , 2011 Is the sentry wearing Slade Wallace equipment? Which might suggest earlier than WW1 and possibly India. It's the 1914 Pattern Infantry Equipment, so definitely not pre-WW1, the rest of the kit is classic British tropical kit of the era: http://www.karkeeweb.com/patterns/1914/1914_set_%20displays.html
