Matt Dixon Posted 16 January , 2011 Share Posted 16 January , 2011 Does anyone know what the term "Forfeited Service" on a service record of a Private means? Is it related to medical discharge?

Andy Wade Posted 16 January , 2011 Share Posted 16 January , 2011 To add to what's on that thread, I have details of a man who served and earned medals with one regiment, then deserted and had 'service forfeited' for those medals. He served 84 days in jail after a court martial, later he re-enlisted with another regiment and earned the medals again and survived the war with his second set of medals. Piorun Posted 16 January , 2011 Share Posted 16 January , 2011 It meant that his military service to that date date was effectively rendered null and, thus, would not count towards any time-served medal entitlement. Antony
Matt Dixon Posted 17 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 17 January , 2011 Thankyou, that makes sense as the man was court martialled for a variety of offences.
