sotonmate Posted 16 January , 2011 Share Posted 16 January , 2011 nathan Might be able to narrow down which unit he served in. The first 6 Infantry Divisions and the Cavalry Division landed in France in Aug 1914. From my notes there were only two RE units which landed in France on the 15th August, the date shown as qualifying by John here, Cavalry Division's 1 Field Squadron RE and 1 Signal Section RE. The next nearest landed at Rouen on the 16th,also shown as the 16th when it arrived at the coastal port of Le Havre prior to shipping up the River Seine to Rouen. That unit was 26 Field Company RE of 1 Division. Sotonmate

Guest Posted 4 November , 2018 Share Posted 4 November , 2018 I know this was a while ago now, but just wondered if you had any luck finding one of the family for this medal. I'm researching this family and am in touch with one of his great nieces. Happy to help if you are still looking.
