Donny Anderson Posted 10 January , 2011 Share Posted 10 January , 2011 Can anyone assist with the remarks on this mans record? I am especially interested in the remark concerning the report of the Court of Enquiry into his death, would this report still be available at the National Archive and if so where? Also what does the remark "NP 2672/19" refer to. As William Keith had only joined the navy on 11/10/1918 and was 49 years of age at the time what was the upper age limit for conscription or would he have volunteered? Many thanks in advance, Donny
sotonmate Posted 10 January , 2011 Share Posted 10 January , 2011 Donny I would say it's a fair possibility that the reference was to a file raised concerning the enquiry. RN Courts of Enquiry records are in ADM156,but not having read any cannot say how extensive they are. Sotonmate
horatio2 Posted 10 January , 2011 Share Posted 10 January , 2011 The NP reference (Naval Personnel Division of the Admiralty) is linked by the 'crossed ticks' to the DD (Discharged Dead) annotation. The Court of Enquiry entry has, as would be anticipated, a reference to an NL document (Naval Law Division of the Admiralty).
Donny Anderson Posted 10 January , 2011 Author Share Posted 10 January , 2011 Sotonmate, Horatio2, Thank you very mutch for your prompt replies, William Keith was my brother in laws grandfather, so it looks like the researchers services will be required again. Once again many thanks, Donny
