rmtruby Posted 2 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 2 August , 2004 I'm in the process of putting these pictures on the Gallery. Many pictures of my great uncle have already been uploaded. Can anyone help with the following: 1. Ernest was receiving treatment at the Fulbourn Institute and made some visits to Cambridge Hospital early on in the war, certainly before November 1915. What was, or is, the Fulbourn Institute? And, can anyone help me establish which 'Cambridge Hospital' he most likely was visiting? 2. Ernest spent some time in Brome, near Eye, Suffolk, before embarkation. I am assuming that this was where training took place. Thanks Ray
rmtruby Posted 13 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 13 August , 2004 I took this photograph of W.H. Lowe's headstone a few weeks ago. He is buried in All Saints' Cemetery, West Bromwich. This is the only headstone that I have seen at first hand of a Great War soldier from the Staffordshire Yeomanry. Can anyone help with any of the following: 1. Background information on W. H. Lowe; 2. Photos of other headstones of soldiers from the Staffordshire Yeomanry; Thanks Ray

rmtruby Posted 16 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2004 This photograph is of Ernest's brother, Albert Frederick Timmins. I believe he served in the RAF. I was wondering whether Albert Frederick is listed among the men who served from West Bromwich, and whether there are any other details about him. Albert was my grandfather. I have no details about his war record. Can anyone help? Thanks Ray

rmtruby Posted 17 November , 2004 Author Share Posted 17 November , 2004 I'm still plodding on with research into my great uncle E.S. Timmins. However, I have run aground in some areas. Can anyone help with the following: 1. I am still trying to find out what the Fulbourn Institute was. My great uncle spent some time there before embarkation. 2. Ernest spent some time in Brome, near Eye, Suffolk, before embarkation. I am assuming that this was where training took place. Thanks Ray
rmtruby Posted 20 December , 2004 Author Share Posted 20 December , 2004 Just sitting at one of the computers in West Bromwich Library at the moment. There is a book of remembrance in the entrance to the library, that is stored in a glass cabinet. Each day the page is turned to reveal a new list of names. Today the book happened to be open to the 'G' page, and among the names listed were William Griffiths, Trooper, 300770, Staffordshire Yeomanry. After some reflection, I decided to post this onto the website. I'm still researching the SY, and it's taken me into some new and fruitful pastures, (and into a few 'blind alleys'). As I rarely get the opportunity to visit the Midlands, my research is still a little 'plodding' to say the least. I still haven't resolved the issue of what the Fulbourn Institute was. This was where my great uncle spent some time there before embarkation. However, I was wondering what would have brought him there and what the SY connection was. I also still haven't worked out why my great uncle E.S. Timmins spent some time in Brome, near Eye, Suffolk, before embarkation. I am assuming that this was where some training took place. rmtruby Posted 7 February , 2005 Author Share Posted 7 February , 2005 I have recently seen a postcard of ‘C’ Squadron, Staffordshire Yeomanry at Garboldisham. The postcard features some Staffs Yeomanry men having a rest with their horses in front of a medieval-looking church. Can anyone help explain what they were doing there, and what the name of the church was? Thanks Ray
