brimacombe Posted 1 January , 2011 Share Posted 1 January , 2011 Pte Llewellyn Lee was killed in action on 4th September 1916. A member of 6th Bn S. L. I., the unit was involved in the fighting around Deville Wood as part of 43Bgd, 14Div. Has anyone a copy of the war diary for 4th September? Or have any what the units activities were for this date? johndavidswarbrick Posted 1 January , 2011 Share Posted 1 January , 2011 The war diary is at Kew - see here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATID=-3185529&CATLN=7&Highlight=,SOMERSET,LIGHT,INFANTRY&accessmethod=0 Unfortunately the site is still playing up - so you can't tell whether it's available as a download. connaughtranger Posted 2 January , 2011 Share Posted 2 January , 2011 Hi Bit of a puzzle: The history by Wyrall shows the 6/SLI as being in Selincourt, 20 miles west of Amiens, from 31st August to the 12th September, enjoying a complete rest. The Battalion had come out of Delville Wood at 4.15am on 20th August Regards Martin
