While I think of it, I'd forgotten I downloaded this while looking through some records and thought I'd post it in case it's of any interest. Hope it's legible.

The Casualty Lists thread under "Other" is the best place for these (I've cross-referenced to this thread).

Thanks for the heads-up David - hadn't seen that.

I know, Diane - can only hope that another portion will turn up somewhere and be recognised. Just thought it was better than not mentioning it.

And it gives unit info that may otherwise be unavailable for these RGA men.

A useful find - is there a date for this?

Strubland Park hospital(?)

28/12/17 to 24/1/18 - 27 days in hospital.

Andy - I think that's Shrubland Park (just outside Coddenham near Ipswich) - the 'hospital' probably being Shrubland Hall.

cheers

Steve

While these lists can be very useful indeed, especially when there are no surviving service records and where the names on the rolls simply give Base Details; over 10 on this list do so. Caution is advised as something I have noticed on all these type of lists (I'm talking RGA entries only) are that they contain many errors. This one is no exception with over 12 noted out of the 27 entries after just a quick check.

Some examples of the sort of errors I refer to:

Hoopel 126801 is 121801

Durrant 98423 is 90423

Redup is REDRUP

Rimer is RIMMER

Gast 26670 with 2 sigs? is 26679 shown with 20 SB

Orme A. 237 SB is ORME Harry shown with 337 SB

Johnson 159456 is 159546

Thackray 338312 is 338132

And Whittlesen I believe is Whittlesea (gassed Sep1917). So just be warned and double check everything.

Rgds

Paul

Yeah it could be Shrubland, it's a handwritten job.
