I am guessing some type of temporary titles until the proper ones were available. Thanks. It's what is known as a "slip-on" title. It has a cloth loop behind, and slips on to the shoulder strap. In WW1 they often had white lettering and in WW2 black lettering. Not sure about WW1, where the security was laxer, but in WW2 soldiers were supposed to remove the title in order to hide troop movements. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
