Mark Finneran Posted 1 December , 2019 Author Share Posted 1 December , 2019 ZULUWAR2006 super images and thanks for posting. Time to kick start this thread after a work absence. However starting on a negative note to remind all members of the dastardly world of fakes. As collectors know there are no limits it seems on what can be faked. MG Prizes/plaques/trench art is one of these areas so please be wary. Mark
Mark Finneran Posted 1 December , 2019 Author Share Posted 1 December , 2019 Kaunas, Lithuania Army Museum. Needless to say I made a very very handsome offer to the curator!!! You can guess the answer
Mark Finneran Posted 1 December , 2019 Author Share Posted 1 December , 2019 A few more images. Beautiful pieces. I did ask about the national use of post WWI German items but sadly much of it lost to occupiers.
Mark Finneran Posted 2 December , 2019 Author Share Posted 2 December , 2019 As per the MG08/15 thread, images of memorial MGs most welcome too.
Mark Finneran Posted 12 February , 2020 Author Share Posted 12 February , 2020 Great image of MG08's for tactical use but also interesting from the 'accessory' point of view.

Mark Finneran Posted 30 April , 2020 Author Share Posted 30 April , 2020 Latest acquisition - this 08 is rather interesting with its battle damage from shell fragments. Significant body damage to the left side plate, handle and fusee cover.
Mark Finneran Posted 30 April , 2020 Author Share Posted 30 April , 2020 (edited) A point of interest is that the sled mount is made by Durkopp, the well known bike, bicycle and sewing machine manufacturer established in 1860. Michael Haselgrove Posted 6 May , 2020 Share Posted 6 May , 2020 Mark, Many thanks for your posts. Congratulations on your latest acquisition which looks superb, especially as the gun and sled mount appear to have been together throughout. I have not seen a sled mount made by Durkopp Werk A.G, before. Interestingly, they also manufactured the S.98/05 bayonet in 1916 and 1917, mostly in co-operation with other companies, namely Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Rich. A. Herder and F. Koeller & Co. Anyway, many thanks for the posts. Regards, Michael.
Mark Finneran Posted 5 June , 2020 Author Share Posted 5 June , 2020 I have now two Durkopps' not the bicycle or sewing machine.
