Terry Posted 19 June , 2004 Share Posted 19 June , 2004 Another recent acquisition is a 1914-15 Star trio to 3-8343 Pte. W.J.Courtney, 1/Dorsets. He arrived in France on 4 Dec.,1914 - twelve days too late to earn the 1914 Star. He remained with the unit until his discharge on 22 Feb.,1919, and therefore possibly took part in the First Day on the Somme, 1 July,1916. Courtney remained a private soldier, but one wonders just what he lived through during those war years.
David_Bluestein Posted 19 June , 2004 Share Posted 19 June , 2004 Hello Terry, Nice trio you have there. Good Regt. Just picked up a couple pairs from our friend HC: One pair to the CMGB killed at Hill 70, August 1917, and a pair to the 19th Bn. AIF (Australian) killed 1918. We can catch up later....
