Ypres pillboxes

Recommended Posts

Hi - I am interested to know whether two particular German pillboxes remain in the Westhoek area.

They are: Garter point (http://www.awm.gov.au/blog/tag/passchendaele-ypres/) and Anzac House. Both were not far from Zonnebeke.

If anyone has information in relation to these pillboxes, whether they still exist or when they were removed (and how), I would be very interested.

Thanks

Tim

Tim, Franky Bostyn, Director of the Passchendaele Museum, Zonnebeke has a specialist interest and knowledge of pillboxs in the Ypres Salient, if you find their site you could contact him via that. I am sure he would be able to help SG

Tim,

I took a photo of the site where Anzac blockhouse was located, in early August this year. I didn't walk into the field so I don't know if any of the structure remains, but if you get in touch with me by reply I will put you in touch with a local who might be able to tell you. Looking closely at my original resolution of the photo, I can see a substantial pile of stone blocks inside the bushes in the centre of the image. A cut down photo of the site is attached.
