Hi

Has anyone any info on a Ernest Smith of the York & Lancaster Regiment. I have some of his attestation papers but cannot make out his regiment number or his address ? pretty sure his regiment number starts off 133** then not sure what the rest is, could be 57? Any help much appreciated.

If you continue through all the sheets you will be able to read his address more clearly. He served in France with the 9th Battalion Y&L from 27.8.1915 to 3.11.1917. On the 4th Nov he transferred to the Durham Light Infantry,he seemed to have deafness in his left ear,and didn't serve overseas again. He was entitled to three campaign medals.
