chris basey Posted 17 June , 2004 Share Posted 17 June , 2004 One of our rare theatre visits yesterday took in David Haig’s play ‘My Boy Jack’ at the Theatre Royal in Norwich. Although bearing the same title as Kipling’s book it is not an adaptation of it. It includes powerful (or do I mean just loud?) impressions of the Western Front with it’s problems of trench foot, mud, fear and more fear. The special effects give Tony Noyes' wurlitzer a good run! I found it an impressive play but am no good at writing reviews. Go to this website for that: http://www.reviewsgate.com/modules.php?op=...rticle&sid=1771 David Haig (the Detective Inspector of ‘The Thin Blue Line) plays the lead superbly and even has a military type bearing to demonstrate his relationship with FM Sir Douglas! Well worth seeing – it’s at Cardiff next week and at Cambridge the week commencing 5th July.
BMoorhouse Posted 19 June , 2004 Share Posted 19 June , 2004 Chris, I agree - a good play on the whole. I saw it at Bath's Theatre Royal about 2 months ago. It should interest any theatre going pal. Brendon.
