Hallo,

In Italy, as in all the entire Europe, a great work is began to elaborate plans in order to adequately celebrate the recurrence of the centenarian of First World War (2014-2018).

Ando so, even in our small town of Giavera del Montello, 50 kilometers far from Venice, is born a project called

Emotional Museum of the great War ( www.museoemotivo.org)

It will be an atypical museum as it will not be a collection of objects, but a container of events, and cultural proposals, with the intent to move emotions in contemporary people who confront himself with a great historical event of 100 years ago.

Our first initiative regards a guide to the discovery of the Giavera British Cemetery, and in particular to the discovery of the personal history of some of the soldiers buried here. We have deepened with pride the story of John Scott Youll, the only one among the soldiers buried in Giavera to receive the Victoria Cross. But with great emotion we have uncovered also that they rest an olympic champion of the Olympic Games of London , an illustrious pathologist, a miner or an electrician.

The second project in preparation is a musical show about CHRISTMAS TRUCE, an episode of the first world war nearly disowned in Italy, but well known in the rest of Europe and particularely in Great Britain, as well as to interest musicians as Paul Mc Cartney and directors as Richard Attemborough. Leaving from the works of the artists who have spoken of the Truce, the show will tell the spontaneous truce elapsed the night of Christmas 1914 between groups of soldiers of the opposite English and French armies on one side and of German army in the other. The preview will be rapresented in Christmas 2011.
