Hello Everyone,

The german torpedo boats keep records such as nominal lists of prisoners taken aboard their ships unfortunately I can`t find any mention of ratings from this Ship? Or are their lists at the Camps they were kept at I believe it was at Brandenberg Camp? Other than that already alluded too already and constant trips to the Archives or Imperial museum have proved to be excerbating somewhat!

Best regards Ian

Ian,

I don't know whether this will help your search or not but this is what was found for me at the National Archives for HMS ARABIS.

In the case of HMS ARABIS the German authorities notified the British Admiralty about prisoners of war via the British Red Cross. In ADM 116/1524 is correspondence about the ARABIS PoWs including a list of names with details in German, e.g.,

ENGLANDER, Gefangenenlager HAMELN.

OLIVER Alexander, Matrose Boot "Arabis" Dogerbank [Nordsee] London 27166.

The number quoted is his PoW number not his RN Official No.

I am intrigued by your mention of nominal lists for PoWs kept by German torpedo boats. How do you access these as I would like to cross check my own list.

David.
