Phil135 Posted 17 November , 2010 Posted 17 November , 2010 Hello all from newbie I'm sure many of you are aware of press report relating to remains of 6 soldiers found near either Warneton or Comines-Warneton and assumed to relate to fighting east of Plugstreet Wood October - November 1914. As a relative of someone (1/East Lancs) who fits the time and place, and who is currently commemorated on Ploegstert memorial to the missing, I have an active interest. 4 of the men have apparently recognised regimental insignia, 2 still unidentified. Given the low odds - something like 900:1** - that the remains are of interest, I'd like to enlist your help mainly by logging any further reports which appear, to help me and anyone else interested to keep track. If by any chance there's anyone out there with detailed knowledge of the identification procedure, and possibly any way a putative relative could help, that would be a bonus. **Or possibly not - my maths is rubbish
ianw Posted 17 November , 2010 Posted 17 November , 2010 There is an active thread about this entitled "6 British soldiers found in Comines-Warneton". Suggest you take a look.
