Infantry Kit at Gallipoli

I've read that an infantryman waiting to go ashore at Suvla would have had a pack weighing some 70 or 80 pounds. What would they have been carrying in it, exactly? Would they have had sleeping blankets, for example, or any kind of early sleeping bag?

That 70 - 80 lbs would include rifle and bayonet, webbing and ammunition, water bottle etc which would make up a significant part of the weight carried. Have a look on the link to the Long Long Trail at the top of the page - that will have some lists and explanations of what was carried.
