Ed Woods Posted 16 November , 2010 Posted 16 November , 2010 Would you have his date of birth, where he was born and where he was living?
Admin kenf48 Posted 16 November , 2010 Admin Posted 16 November , 2010 There is a mic for William H Williams Pte 7794 Yorkshire Light Infantry probably a pre war regular entered theatre 26th October 1914 MIC is marked P of W as above more info would make it easier Suggest 2nd Bn as replacement part of 5th Division probably captured at Messines October 1914 but a Yorkshire Light Infantry expert would help you with that Ken
sotonmate Posted 17 November , 2010 Posted 17 November , 2010 loueire22 The National Archives have a series of documents which show the contents of an interview with a percentage of returning POWs. Your subject may or may not be one of them. WO161/100 is part of the series. If you search on the Catalogue with WILLIAMS and WO161 there will be quite a few hits, some of which are multiple names within a single file, which would have to be opened to check the list. You may get to find a record, which would then have to be looked up insitu at Kew. Sotonmate

Quick look on Ancestry shows over 100 sets of records of people called William H Williams! A date of birth or a year of birth might narrow the search down a bit
