hendrix Posted 16 November , 2010 Posted 16 November , 2010 Durham Light Infantry Pte Jackson Does anyone know how I can find out which battalion of the DLI Pte M W Jackson reg number 4/9771 served in? I have his MIC and discharge papers. thanks in advance for any help Martin
mooke07 Posted 16 November , 2010 Posted 16 November , 2010 Hi Martin, Given his regimental number has a 4 prefix that would be for the 4th battalion I would think. My grandfathers number was 18/544 and he was 18th Pals battalion, DLI and so that is the numbering scheme used on WW1 medals, cheers Dean. hendrix Posted 16 November , 2010 Author Posted 16 November , 2010 Thanks for the reply Dean. The problem I have is that according to his MIC he landed in France 17/8/1915, I belive that the 4th Bn never left England. So perhaps he moved Battalions, any ideas? His full name is Matthew ( sometimes mis-spelt Mathew ) Whitfield JACKSON. he did survive the war. Cheers Martin
