oldbellsfarm Posted 12 November , 2010 Posted 12 November , 2010 Regimental Sergeant Oliver - Royal Fusiliers I am researching family history and struggling to find information about my wife's grandfather. On his marriage certificate in 1915 he is recorded as a sergeant in 6th battalion, Royal Fusiliers and resident at Duke of Yorks School, Dover, Kent. He was 26 yrs old in 1915. Searching is complicated because he is listed on the marriage certificate as George Alfred Oliver but the family say he always signed his name A H Oliver (I think for Alfred Henry). Older members of the family say he was a 'crack shot' and was involved in the Queens Parade in Germany. I am assuming this was after the First World War. After being discharged from the army he lived in Colchester, Essex until he died in 1965. Any information to help would be very gratefully received. David Collins

Guest Posted 17 November , 2018 Posted 17 November , 2018 As I see this post is from 2010 I presume you have found out the information you were looking for. Your wife must be a relative of mine as Alfred George Charles Oliver was also my grandad
