This was with my Great Grandfathers things. He was in the 4th Bn. Coldstream Guards (Pioneers). I would like to knowwhat it was for/represented. My guess is that it went on the cap or prehaps it is German.

Many thanks,

Jonathan :)

Hi,

I am no expert but i have looked in my Osprey . Men at arms series

The British Army 1914-18.

it shows collar flashes in one picture (Black Watch) and shoulder flashes in another for Suffolk Regiment.

I am sure that others will be of more use to you.

Also look 'Uniforms of ww1' (prussian/German soldiers in this same section.

Good luck.

Mandy

This is a WWI Italian enlisted man's collar insignia from Brigade Lucca, consisting of infantry regiments number 163 and 164. The hole on the other end from the small button is where the star insignia was once poked through.

Regards,

Chip
