Skipman Posted 20 October , 2010 Share Posted 20 October , 2010 I am researching a 2nd HLI man who was kia on the 20th of September 1914. It is possible Pte 10704 James Reid was in B Coy but am not certain. He was in B Coy before transferring to the reserves in March 1914, only to be called up on the outbreak of war. Am still looking for confirmation that he was actually in B Coy? " Heavy rifle fire at 6.00am. Attack repulsed. Germans noticed to be entrenching themselves about 300yards from our advanced trenches. 2 platoons under Lte Lilburn (‘B’ company) with two companies of Worcester regiment made a gallant, but unsuccessful attack on German trenches. " I'm interested in the location of the 2nd HLI on this date, and wondered if any member had a trench map of the area on this date, or coordinates for the location of B Coy's attack. CROONAERT Posted 22 October , 2010 Share Posted 22 October , 2010 I don't know whether this is of any use (with it being dated Sept 22nd 1917), but at least it shows the area on a period map... dave
