James Gamble's service info is incorrect in the AVL. By August 1918, he was a Sgt Mech and had completed pilot training; he went to France the following month. His older brother, George, had died in September 1917 after being commissioned from the ranks in the Rifle Brigade. Another brother, Ernest, was in the Navy and is listed in the AVL at the Garner family's home in Traverse Street, just round the corner from South John Street (Ernest had married Sarah Garner whose brother, Joseph, was a POW). James Gerrard married Eva Gamble, James Gamble's younger sister, in January 1916, just before he went to France with the 1/3rd West Lancs Field Ambulance. He was awarded the MM for actions in the early stages of 3rd Ypres. By all means post the image to the Gallery area of the St.Helens Rolls of Honour website.
