atillathenunns Posted 13 May , 2014 Share Posted 13 May , 2014 Hi Wendy, do you have a photo of the front of the tunic? I am suspicious as the 1st Auckland battalion patch would not have been worn in conjunction with 19th Reinforcement numerals, also it is unusual to see two piece reinforcement numerals from the 15th Reinforcements onward. Brent Hi Brent No photo of the front of the uniform sorry, come to think of it I'm not sure if there was one otherwise I would have saved the image. You may know the trader tazman7, was early 2012 I saw this on TradeMe. I have a set of joined 19's and never gave it any thought that this uniform had separate numbers. I wonder if this uniform is a replica for re-enactment , it's in very good order. Wendy
atillathenunns Posted 13 May , 2014 Share Posted 13 May , 2014 Wendy if I had a picture of the front of the tunic I could probably identify if it was New Zealand issue or British issue / mid WW1 or post WW1.Whatever it may be, someone has got the insignia wrong. Perhaps it is a good thing you missed out on it.Posts 30 - 34 of the following thread may be of help to you in the future in identifying what to look for when it comes to the difference of uniforms worn by New Zealanders during WW1.http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27360&page=2Brent
Guest Posted 4 February , 2015 Share Posted 4 February , 2015 Hi Wendy My great-uncle sailed with the 19th (F Company) on 15 November on either the Maunganui or Tahiti. I'm writing up his story and wondered how to reference the picture of the Maunganui you have posted above (from Elspeth). Thanks Clare
