I wrote that three other soldiers were killed in action on this day. This info is from SDGW. But cross-checking the dates of their death with CWGC, and I find that the 'other' men were all killed in April (when 9 Cameronians were involved in heavy fighting).

So I now believe that L/Cpl Glossop was the only man killed on this day.

Looks like it was shellfire.

Division History gives:

'In line at Meteren. A pleasant quiet sector, light casualties from shellfire.'

The 6th KOSB ( same Brigade) conducted a trench raid on 2nd/3rd June which resulted in no prisoners but stirred up the enemy.

Toward the end of June they were further stirred up as the South African Brigade, the Scottish Brigades and the 1st Australian Division, who were on the right, conducted lots of raids resulting in several prisoners of 81st Reserve Division.

Only 1 other Cameronian in the same cemetery, Pte Ewan McGregor, but he was killed on 18th August, which is some time after our man.

Incidentally, I noticed that the cemetery only has 106 graves, with all having a name recorded. That seems unusual to me.
