Can any of the PALS educate me as to the entries in the London Gazette as in the topic title.

Were they Temporary in as much for the duration of the War?

Assuming 'attd' means 'attached', what were they attached from, or, what were they attached to? Did they go elsewhere once their 'attachment' finished?

I'm not sure whether officers were commissioned into a specific battalion of a regiment, or just into a regiment, but they 'belonged' to a specific battalion. For a variety of reasons many officers were attached (i.e. served with) another battalion within the same regiment or even with a different regiment.

Sometimes these were quite short attachments but they could last for years.

Regards,

Ken
